Mrs. Hite has lived in Southside Virginia for several years. She is a graduate of Park View Senior High School, in South Hill, Virginia. She went onto Meredith College, in Raleigh, North Carolina where she received her Bachelors in Music. While at Meredith College she actively participated in Flute Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, NC State Marching Band and conducted with the NC State Concert Band.

After college life, Mrs. Hite started her teaching career in North Carolina. She has also taught in the state of Texas. After her short excursion out west, she decided to return home to Southside Virginia. Here she taught at Kenston Forest School as Director of Music, Dinwiddie High School as Director of Bands and Sussex County as Elementary Music Educator.

Mrs. Hite is finishing up her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Phoenix Online. She will receive her Master’s in November and is excited about applying all of her new found knowledge. Other than school, she has a supportive husband, Richard, and a fantastic daughter, Kiernan Ainsley which take up all of her spare time.

Mrs. Hite is excited about sharing, exploring and teaching in Nottoway County. One of her visions is to grow the band to 100 members within five years. She would also like to see a course in music technology implemented at the high school.

Douglas C. Black, Jr. - Marching Band/Low Brass Instructor

Mr. Black has lived in Southside Virginia for most of his life and graduated from Park View High School, South Hill, VA.  He is currently a Junior at the University of South Carolina where he studying Music Education with a Certificate in Tuba Performance.

Laura Milford - Color Guard Instructor

Laura is a freshly graduated student from Nottoway High School and is continuing her schooling at James Madison University.  She participated in the Marching Cougar Band in Color Guard for five years and was captain or co-captain for four and a half of those years.  Also, Laura played French Horn during the winter and spring concert seasons.  Currently she is in the JMU Marching Royal Dukes as part of the Color Guard and will be performing in the Macy's Day Parade in New York during Thanksgiving.
